Can you guess what our topic is this month? Litter (ew!)
One of the easiest thing we can do to keep our community beautiful is to make sure paper waste, cigarette butts, food wrappers, etc. finds its rightful place in the garbage bin. By taking a few extra seconds while walking from your car to your destination, you can have an immensely positive impact on your community and inspire others to do the same).
May 7-21 the City of Frederick is teaming up with Keep Oklahoma Beautiful and participating in The Great American Cleanup!
During this period, Frederick utility customers may use the dump for FREE! Remember to bring a utility bill with you to the dump, and make sure you are not dumping any prohibited items. Items that are not permitted to be dumped are: hazardous materials, appliances containing freon, oil, oil filters, and batteries. Paint may be dumped if the can does not have a lid and the paint is dry. For more information on prohibited items, check with City Hall for details, 580-335-7551.
To kick off the event, on Saturday, May 7 there will be a trash off! Participants will receive a free t-shirt and a pair of gloves. After one hour of picking up trash, everyone will meet up and the person who finds the most interesting trash item will win a special prize! The participate in the trash off, meet at the Courthouse Saturday morning at 9 o'clock.
So, get out on May 7 and start cleaning up your town! And don’t forget that we have recycling in Frederick. The recycle bins are located just West of the Cenex gas pumps (Main & Amethyst).
